The next FCCAC board meeting will be Tuesday, August 17th, at 6:30 PM at the television station. For directions or more information please call 703-248-5538.
On Tuesday, April 20th, the League of Women Voters held a candidate forum at Falls Church City Hall. This forum was provided to the public as an opportunity to hear from the individuals running for seats on the Falls Church City Council. This event aired live on FCC-TV, but if you missed it you are in luck.
Repeats of the forum will air on the station leading up to election day. However, if you just can't wait, click here for archived version online.
This is just a friendly reminder that there will be no early dismissal tomorrow at Mount Daniel Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Elementary, Mary Ellen Henderson Middle and George Mason High School. Instead, Wednesday’s dismissal schedule will be as follows:
Mount Daniel and TJ: 3:30 p.m.
MEH: 2:30 p.m.
GMHS: 3:00 p.m.
The adjustment is being made to make up for instructional time lost to snow days.
Snow removal crews have been able to widen the Leesburg Pike entrance to Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School, so the traffic pattern restrictions imposed yesterday have been lifted. You may now use the Leesburg Pike entrance. However, please remember that it is illegal to turn right from Leesburg Pike into that entrance as indicated by the posted traffic sign. This restriction was imposed by the Virginia Department of Transportation in 2005 for safety reasons.
Also, please be advised that all after school and evening activities scheduled for tonight will go on as scheduled.
The Falls Church City Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, February 12, 2010 (Code Green). Day care will open at 9:00 a.m. at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.
Our goal is to open schools as soon as safely possible. FCCPS custodial and maintenance crews have been working hard to remove snow and ice from sidewalks and parking lots on school grounds, and city snow removal crews have been focusing on streets. One challenge we face in reopening schools is property outside of the school system's control - neighborhood sidewalks. If you have not done so already, please remove snow from the sidewalk in front of your home to ensure children have a safe walking route to school or the bus stop. Some citizens may be physically unable to remove snow, so our request may require neighbor to help neighbor. The FCCPS appreciates everyone's help in ensuring students can get to school safely.
Monday: A determination about whether schools can open on Monday will be made later this weekend. You can stay informed of updates in the following ways:
The FCCPS parent information line: (703) 248-5500 x 3113

Local commercial television and radio stations
In addition, we will send a courtesy email to all FCCPS parents for whom we have email addresses. However, as we have advised in the past, many things can interfere with prompt email delivery. For that reason, it should be considered the least reliable source of information. If there is any question, please check one of the above-listed sources to ensure you have up-to-date information.
Calendar note (change in time): The second school board budget work session has been postponed until Saturday, February 13th at 12:30 p.m. in the Central Office Conference Room, 800 W. Broad Street, Suite 203, Falls Church.
